Description:

Primrose’s Emerald Shield is an extremely viscous fluid designed for large shrouded open gears where flowability is desired.

Composition:

Synthetic fluids possessing high viscosity index, high film thickness, and high shear stability, with a high purity level are compounded with industrial extreme-pressure additives plus Primrose’s Moly-D, an exclusive friction-modifier which reduces wear to extremely low levels.

Emerald Shield is chemically stable and non-drying. It will not oxidize at extremely high temperatures and forms no residue at any temperature. Emerald Shield is hydrophobic and impervious to water. It is relatively non-toxic because it is composed of over 98% food grade synthetic material.

Performance Characteristics:

Emerald Shield will not accumulate on open gears, housings or shrouds as open gear greases do, eliminating the necessity of periodic removal or cleanup. However, Emerald Shield has exceptional film strength and adhesiveness, providing extremely heavy load and shock load protection.

Longer gear life with less wear, less maintenance and downtime, and reduced lubricant usage provides a cost-effective solution to open gear lubrication in specialized industrial applications.

Emerald Shield will pass the E.P.A. Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP), and is not subject to the stringent and costly disposal requirements for lubricants that do not.

Uses:

Emerald Shield is adaptable to large shrouded open gears, specifically in ball mills where automatic lubrication is utilized and the flow-down of lubricant can be collected through the lower housing. It may also be used for manual lubrication where it can be poured for easier and cleaner application.
